An Educator’s Experience as an Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) Health Coach
I’ve been travelling from Peru and Canada for 15 years. Living in Toronto, and having family overseas has always kept me connected to my Peruvian food and traditions. In my past longest stay in Peru ( 1 year 11 months) I came back to Canada to follow a busy schedule as a full time teacher. I noticed that, allergies started surfacing, and that my general weight was suffering some variations. This is when I decided to become more informed about the food industry in Canada. Questions like: ‘Where is our food coming from?’ ‘Why eat 100% organic?’ ‘ What and how do I keep my body strong in different climates and locations?’ became more relevant.
I decided to improve my relationship to food in North America by becoming more involved. Not only that, I realized that as a woman in her mid-30’s, my positive nutrition habits and research can help a community of woman and children help sustain themselves lovingly. I joined the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in September 2018. I was captivated by IIN’s ideas of bio-individuality. Bio-individuality explains that one person’s food, can be another person’s poison. IIN encourages coaches to explore, what lifestyles, and foods are the most suited for client’s unique body-mind-spirit components. IIN is the first school in the world that explains nutrition as a unique lifestyle. Exploring Primary food includes: career, relationships, spirituality, sexuality, exercise, cooking, and more. Seeing our Health Coaching path covering the lens of Primary nutrition is an integral path to our wellness, and what we offer in our Health Coaching programs.
